Williamsburg- The Providence Collection
In well-furnished homes of colonial times, bed hangings were often the most valuable item in the house. On the functional side, they were drawn around the bed at night to provide privacy and retain warmth. During the day, attention was given to the beautiful side of these curtains as they were pulled back, making the bed an elegant showpiece.
The textile inspiring this collection was made in England about 1790. The Providence Collection was inspired by a single block-printed, glazed chintz textile in colonial Williamsburg's collection. Individual prints were designed from the overall pattern to give you a rich assortment of complementary fabric designs.
